If there’s one thing Scripture and its original language (Hebrew) make undeniably clear, it’s this: the TRUTH it reveals is unshakable—beyond debate, beyond interpretation, beyond question. It stands firm, no matter what.
Let that Truth sink deep into your heart. Let it break every chain, every lie, every weight that’s held you down. Because here’s the thing: Scripture has the power to SET YOU FREE. Free from the deceit, the manipulation, the corruption that religion, tradition, and false leaders try to heap on you. Free to live in the light of what’s real, what’s pure, what’s eternal.
Don’t let anyone twist it, distort it, or use it to control you.
This Truth isn’t meant to confine you—it’s meant to unleash you. So step into it. Own it. And let it change everything.
Should Believers still observe the Appointed Times of Almighty YHUH as commanded through Scripture, or has it been abolished by the death and resurrection of Mashiach (Messiah)?
On this Page we will study what The Scriptures teach and be guided by The Scriptures alone!
Let it CLEARLY be noted that I have NO RIGHT to tell you what you should believe, or who you should serve and follow. I do NOT judge or condemn anyone for not believing as I do! I humbly confess that I do NOT claim to know better than anyone else! I also do NOT proclaim to know everything, and I do not promote that I have all the answers - but allow me to share what I have [PERSONALLY] and diligently [researched] and [studied] from Scripture - over many years and thousands of hours, giving you the opportunity to TEST it against Scripture (and Scripture alone).
On this page you will find many new revelations.
These studies come with years of diligent research, study, and testing and is 100% backed and confirmed by Scripture.
I DON'T share [my] opinions, ONLY SCRIPTURE!
Opinions divide believers, but TRUTH brings believers together!
The writer humbly acknowledges and understands that there are much confusion and controversy pertaining all the following matters, relating to the Scriptural Calendar of Almighty YHUH . . .
1) Is the Scriptural Calendar SOLAR, LUNAR, or [both] SOLAR & LUNAR, or is the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly cycles fixed, with a divine connection between the sun (solar) and the moon (lunar)?
2) WHAT determines the Scriptural Year?
3) WHEN does the Scriptural New Year begin?
4) WHEN does a Scriptural-day and Sabbath-day start - at dawn or dusk?
5) On WHAT day of the week should the weekly Sabbath be observed?
6) What about the Lunar Sabbath belief? Is it Scriptural?
7) Should "modern-day believers" still observe the Appointed Times (Mo'adim) of Almighty YHUH?
8) What about all the vain traditions and pagan holidays that religion teaches and observes - and the majority of believers celebrate, even to this day?
ALL the above points WILL BE ADDRESSED [in DETAIL] on this webpage.
Please NOTE that ALL STUDIES are BACKED and CONFIRMED by SCRIPTURE - NO TRADITIONS of man are shared on this website or page.
Allow me to KINDLY INFORM you that I do NOT belong to any religious orientation or denomination, nor do I belong to any sect, cult, or sacred names movement! I am a witness, servant and follower of Almighty YHUH through His Son (Mashiach Yahusha), IN COVENANT RELATIONSHIP with Him, and Him alone!
I KINDLY request you to set aside the time to READ and STUDY ALL the CONTENT on this webpage, BEFORE making an INFORMED DECISION, based on all the Scriptures and information provided!
We should be very alert to come-out of one religion just to embrace another’s customs, beliefs and traditions.
We should SEEK to OBSERVE ONLY what Scriptures teach - not religion, tradition, or man!
Test everything with Scripture and the Set-Apart Spirit of Almighty YHUH
In saying all the above, we must acknowledge and accept that there will always be disagreements in the Body of Mashiach (Messiah). All of us are on different levels in our [spiritual] walk with Him, and not everyone researches and studies Scriptural matters diligently.
Let's humbly choose to disagree with one another in love and without insulting one another. I don't get involved in arguments about Scripture. It is NOT my place to convince anyone of anything, but merely to witness the truth [in love] and with [humility], and [without compromise].
I choose to love anyone who disagrees with anything shared on this page.
Let's also be alert to the enemy's schemes to bring division and destruction among believers, luring us into getting involved in disputes and EMPTY arguments. Let's NOT allow it!
It remains every Believer's personal responsibility to research and study Scripture themselves, and NOT just accept the word of man pertaining to Scriptural matters!
I have come to the conclusion (after many years of studying the Scriptural Calendar) - that The Scriptural Calendar cannot and will not be understood without diligently studying the books of Bereshith (Genesis), Shemoth (Exodus), Wayyiqra (Leviticus), all mayor Prophetic books of the Tanak (First Covenant or Old Testament), as well as the very important books of Hanok (Enoch), Jubilees and Yashar (all three these books have always been part of Scripture).
These books among many others have been restored in the most comprehensive [restored] translation of Scripture - The Eth Cepher [meaning The Divine Book].
Dates for the current year's (2024) Appointed Times (Moadim) of Almighty YHUH, are also SHARED below on this page.
Why Truth-Seeking Believers Celebrate Scriptural Appointed Times . . .
by: Robert Somerville, with some changes by Pierre (Rock) Eksteen, also correcting the Authentic, Scriptural Names of FATHER and His Son.
In our celebration of traditional holidays, the SCRIPTURAL Set-Apart days should not be excluded. The motive for the Believer to celebrate Scriptural set-apart days is neither to masquerade as quasi-Jews nor to plunder Jewish customs and traditions, but to honour what YHUH has instituted for ALL GENERATIONS.
And YHUH spoke to Mosheh, saying, “Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, and say to them, ‘The appointed times of YHUH, which you are to proclaim as set-apart gatherings, My appointed times, are these: (Wayyiqra (Leviticus) 23:1-2)
Please notice, YAHUAH said that it is His Appointed Times, NOT man’s . . . so it is NOT part of man’s laws or feasts that was abolished when Messiah YAHUSHA died on the execution pole or stake . . . it is YAHUAH’s commands and should be kept for all eternity. There is a significant difference.
Notice, He did not say these were the appointed times of the Jews or the appointed times of other Believers, but "the appointed times of YAHUAH". They are memorial days that all Believers, including Jews should celebrate. These appointed times were instituted by Father YAHUAH in the First Covenant (Old Testament) and reaffirmed by YAHUSHA in the Renewed Covenant (New Testament).
Since the emmisary Sha'ul (Paul) tells us that "YAHUSHA is Master" (Pilippiyim (Philippians) 2:11), these appointed times find their deepest meaning in our Messiah.
Here is perhaps the most compelling statement in the Renewed Covenant (New Testament) as to the continued influence and recognition of the Scriptural set apart days by the body of YAHUSHA in the first century, even among the Gentile Believing churches.
" . . . For even YAHUSHA our PASSOVER is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast . . ." (I Qorin'tiyim (Corinthians) 5:7-8)
It could not be said more clearly, "Therefore, let us keep the feast [of Passover]." Further evidence of first century Believers celebrating the feast days is found in the book of Acts.
"... I have to keep this coming festival in Jerusalem by ALL MEANS ..." (Ma'aseh (Acts) 18:21)
"For Sha'ul (Paul) had determined to sail past Ephesus, so that he might lose no time in Asia: for he was hurrying to be at Yerushalayim (Jerusalem), if possible, on the day of the festival of weeks (Pentecost) . . ."
(Ma'aseh (Acts) 20:16)
"But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost."
(1Qorin'tiyim (Corinthians) 16:8)
Every major event in Scriptural history occurred on an APPOINTED TIME . . .
The precise dates of Noah's Ark landing on Mt. Ararat;
the exodus of Israel from Egypt;
the giving of the law at Mt. Sinai;
the dedication of Solomon's Temple;
the birth of Mashiach (Messiah) Yahusha, including His death, burial and resurrection;
the outpouring of the Qodesh Ruach (Set Apart Spirit) of YHUH;
the second coming of Messiah, etc. are all prime examples of YAHUAH's faithfulness to His Appointed Times and seasons.
Proper recognition of these appointed days of memorial is being restored to the body of believers as a vital part of worship and celebration.
HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE
Traditionally, Believers have not given formal recognition to the Scriptural appointed times (Wayyiqra (Leviticus 23).
The preference has been to continue the honouring of such PAGAN traditional holidays as New Years, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and All Saints Day (Holy Evening or Halloween) etc. Interestingly, these are calendar days for which there is NO Scriptural support. How did this condition come about and who is responsible? There is certainly no record that the first century “church” ever celebrated the traditional holidays, as we know them. They were an "invention" of the subsequent church leadership. There is, however, abundant evidence to confirm that the early church continued to celebrate the biblical feast days.
By the beginning of the fourth century, Constantine, who had become both head of the "church" and Emperor of Rome, forbade the recognition of anything that remotely smacked of Jewishness to the point of imprisonment and even death. An example of this can be seen by the actions taken at the Council of Nicea in 325 AD. The “Church”, which had been commemorating the death and resurrection of YAHUSHA, changed the date for observing the resurrection to make it correspond with the pagan carnival Easter instead of what they considered to be the Scriptural feast of Passover. Today we are victims of that orchestrated effort and therefore Believers' sense of value for celebrating Scriptural Memorial Days became almost non-existent, but that is changing fast.
RESTORATION MATTERS
A better understanding of the Scriptural Appointed Times in the light of the Teachings of YAHUSHA, our Messiah is being fully restored to the BODY of BELIEVERS. Still the question invariably arises, but what about the “New Testament Scriptures”, which seemingly discourage the practice of observing "special days"? Such conclusions are often drawn as a result of misinformation, faulty interpretation of scripture, unbelief, and fear and with some degree of hypocrisy. For example, the following scripture is often cited as a proof text for non- observance of Scriptural feast days:
"You observe days and months and seasons and years. I fear for you, lest by any means I have laboured for you in vain."
Galatiyim (Galatians) 4:10-11
Here is a classic example of faulty interpretation of Scripture. This reference has nothing to do with appointed times. Paul's statement to the Galatians is concerning their returning to former pagan or heathen practices. Clearly, he is not speaking of the Scriptural celebrations. This is borne out in the very structure of the letter itself. Notice, this was something they were re-instituting that they had been practicing when they worshiped false gods (see verse nine). The Galatians had never celebrated Scriptural appointed days. They were Gentiles; therefore, they could not have been returning to the scriptural festivals as some might claim.
The truth is -- few Believers believe this Scripture to be absolute or if they do, their actions are inconsistent with their beliefs. If taken at face value, we would simply have to refrain from celebrating or memorializing any "days" religious or secular. As it now is, we often go to great lengths and great expense both at home and in “church” to celebrate such times as New Years, Christmas, Easter, birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, etc. To be sure, we "observe days" and they are often accompanied with great pageantry and extravaganza. The point is that many have somehow concluded that apparently, we are free to celebrate any holidays except the true scriptural days; these are somehow forbidden and viewed as being strictly Jewish and therefore anti-Yahusha, non-Messianic and indeed dangerous. Yet the ones we have arbitrarily created for ourselves which have NO scriptural support are somehow "safe" and honorable, even sacred. Again, Paul's reference here is concerning pagan holidays and not YAHUAH's ordained appointed days, which the same writer had encouraged the "church" to keep!
(1 Qorin'tiyim (Corinthians) 5:7-8).
Here is another example of faulty interpretation of Scripture concerning special days.
"Let no one therefore judge you in eating or in drinking, or in respect of a festival, or a new moon, or Sabbaths:" (Qolasim (Colossians) 2:16)
This is not an indictment against appointed day celebrations, but a caution about judgmental attitudes by those not obeying the Appointed Times of YHUH. One would be hard pressed to find anyone who practices this as is commonly interpreted. The truth is - there are on-going judgmental attitudes manifested in the “church” about meats, drinks, set-apart days and Sabbath observance. Those who don't observe such things tend to reflect on those who do as "legalists" (strict adherents to the Law). Those who observe them quite often view those who don't as unrighteous or at best, second-class citizens of the Kingdom. Simply stated, "those who do judge those who don't and those who don't judge those who do" and on it goes.
The question arises - what do Scriptures teach?
That should be our FINAL authority and guideline as to how we choose to observe YAHUAH'S laws and right rulings. Yet the Yahusha-like attitude is "Judge not"!
(MattitYahu (Matthew 7:1).
The emmisary (apostle) Paul gives similar advice to the church in Rome.
A MATTER of WORSHIP
Our motive in celebration should be as YAHUAH originally intended; remembrance and honour for what He has done. YAHUAH said His appointed times were to be celebrated "forever" (Ex 12:14; Lev 23:14, 21, 31 & 41).
If YAHUAH never changes, and we have His word on that He does not (Mal'aki (Malachi) 3:6), it is obvious that He still desires to be worshiped in this manner. The appointed days retain a deep abiding meaning for the Believer since their fullness (not termination) is found in YAHUSHA, our Messiah. It is safe to say that the Believer has as much reason for celebrating these appointed times as does the Jew and perhaps even more (1Qorin'tiyim (Corinthians) 5:8). The feast days contain more divine information, spiritual lessons and prophetic reflections than perhaps any subject of Scripture. Subsequently, it is through our deliberate recognition and celebration of them that the riches of truth contained in them is released for our understanding.
The question before us is:
Should Believers celebrate the Appointed Times of Almighty YAHUAH?
Clearly, we should.
Why? Because they are Scriptural, Yahusha-centered and YAHUAH ordained.
While these APPOINTED TIMES may not be essential to salvation, they are certainly essential for set-apart worship in the [true] body of Believers. Reason simply dictates this conclusion.
The Scriptural Calendar of Almighty YaHUaH
Beloved ones – please allow me to share the following vital information with you, BEFORE you attempt to read and study this very important teaching.
Background
Most of us were brought-up with religion – either via Christianity or Judaism. As an ex-charismatic pastor with an international theology degree, I thought I knew and understood the truth. I had to Unlearn MOST of what I was taught through religion (Pentecostal and Charismatic), AFTER I laid-down my title and divorced religion in 2007.
Religion has deceived all of us, whether it was their intention or not. The majority of those we looked-up to manipulated us, controlled us, and used us for personal gain. Much of what they teach and proclaim is based on their denomination’s belief system and or their adopted belief-system handed-down from generation to generation. Much of what they teach is based on theology, ideology and personal interpretation and/or belief (Read Jer 23; Eze 34, Zeph 3 and Mal 2).
After taking a sabbatical for almost 4 years, during which time I basically studied The Scriptures day and night, WITHOUT the influence of religion or man, much were revealed to me. What Scripture taught me OPPOSED what I was taught since childbirth. I had to go through a painful process of repentance, confession and cleansing myself from the traditions and doctrines of the “Babylonian church system”. In a sense I had to re-discover myself spiritually and be re-taught by Scripture – and Scripture ALONE!
Today I don’t follow any man, church or congregation like I used to – I follow my Hebrew Mashiach (Messiah), and I yield to my Father YHUH’s Undefiled Word of truth – guarding His commands and His alone!
This is the reason I humbly share these studies with you – as all of us who stand for truth and righteousness – amidst resistance, rejection, abuse and persecution, are called to be faithful witnesses of our Father’s Word.
We are no longer man-pleasers or church-pleasers, but we seek to be faithful to our Father and His Word – no matter the price and/or consequences.
FIXED or CHANGED cycles?
Most of us believe that a day has always comprised of 24 hours; a week consists of 7 days, and there are 4 fixed seasons in every year. Now, IF a day, week and the seasons of the year NEVER CHANGED SINCE CREATION, why do we believe that the months and years have changed?
Doesn’t Scripture teach us that our Creator and His Word NEVER CHANGES? This teaching will confirm, backed by Undeniable and solid Scriptural evidence that our Creator’s Calendar is and has always been operating on FIXED CYCLES and PATTERNS.
Think about it for a moment – does it make sense that we as mortal humans must RELY on our corrupted FLESH (physical eyesight) to determine the months, years and Appointed Times (Moadim) of our Creator? We DON’T need our flesh to determine His days, weeks and seasons, yet we believe that we need to visibly see a dark or concealed or crescent moon to determine His months, years and Appointed Times (Moadim). Have we considered the possibility that we will NOT be able to visibly see a concealed or crescent moon if we have inclement weather for days on end – as we often do in many countries across the globe. Must our Creator’s Calendar be placed on hold, until we can see a dark or crescent moon?
Is our Creator in charge of His own creation and does He control it effortlessly and precisely year-in-and-out, or is our eyesight absolutely the determining factor in establishing His Calendar?
So much of what we have been taught by learned men and women over thousands of years, simply doesn’t add-up and leaves too much room for error and personal interpretation – resulting in varying opinions, leading to much confusion among believers. Fact is – the Scriptural Calendar that the book of Hanok teaches in much detail and with precise accuracy does NOT leave any room for confusion and is simple enough for anyone to understand and apply – without too much trouble.
Please join me in a diligent study relating to what the book of especially Hanok (Enoch) and to a lesser degree Yobelim (Jubilees) teach regarding how the luminaries operate and are used to determine the Scriptural Calendar and Appointed Times of YHUH. These books do not contradict what the book of Bereshith (Gen) teaches with regards to the Scriptural Calendar. The book of Hanok precisely and accurately reveals how the luminaries are used to determine the Appointed Times, giving us CLEAR UNDERSTANDING and enabling us to correctly apply the Calendar of Almighty Father Yahuah (YHUH)!
Please NOTE
What the book of Hanok teaches about The Scriptural Calendar is NOT Hanok’s opinion or personal teaching, and should NOT be referred to as the Hanok Calendar. It is and always has been YHUH’s calendar, revealed through Hanok as His faithful and trusted messenger. It comprises REVELATION by our Creator through Hanok, just as He revealed His Torah to us through Mosheh as His messenger. The book of Hanok has ALWAYS been part of Scripture, exposing the LIE that it cannot be deemed as part of Scripture. See clear evidence of this below.
Fragments of the book of Hanok (Enoch) were found together with fragments from 28 other First Covenant (Old Testament) books in Cave 4, Qumran region, excavated in 1952. The manuscripts date from the early 2nd century BCE to the Herodian period, and at least the book of Astronomy (quoted in this study) PREDATES the book of Dani’el. The book of Hanok was KNOWN BEFORE the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls and is also recorded in Egyptian manuscripts and manuscripts of five component parts of Hanok have also come to light in Aramaic. We find several references to Hanok (Enoch) in other books of Scripture, including Bereshith (Gen); Luqas (Luk); Ibrim (Heb) and Yahudah (Jude) – See Gen 5:18-24; Luk 3:37; Heb 11:5 and Jude 1:14-15.
It is also important to look at WHO Hanok really was to understand WHY hwhy chose Him to reveal His Calendar to us.
Let it be noted that Hanok was a Prophet (Jude 1:14), who walked UPRIGHTLY before YHUH and was described as a man who pleased YHUH (Gen 5:24 and Heb 11:5).
Jude 1:14 teaches that Hanok was the SEVENTH from Adam.
Is this coincidence? I believe NOT. Nothing in Scripture is mentioned without cause or meaning. Let’s consider the prophetic and symbolic significance of the number 7.
Seven (Hebrew letter zayin), meaning Completion and Spiritual Perfection.
Zayin is a weapon in Hebrew.
The Word of ELohim is the perfect weapon to demolish demonic strongholds, for “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal” (2Cor 10:4).
Seven is the Scriptural number of completion and spiritual perfection. As such, Psalm 7 speaks of the two floods by which the earth is cleansed and brought to the perfect order of the Kingdom.
Seven days completes a weekly (and thus) Sabbath cycle.
In Rev 10:7 the mystery of ELohim is finished when the seventh messenger blows his trumpet.
In Rev 16:7 “Yes, YHUH Ěl Shaddai, true and righteous are Your judgments” when the seven messengers pours out bowls of ELohim’s (Almighty’s) wrath on the earth.
It took seven days to consecrate Aaron and his sons to the priesthood (Lev 8:31-35) before emerging from the tabernacle on the eighth day.
Joshua and the Israelite army had to march around Jericho seven days (Josh 6:15) before the city fell.
In the book of Yashar (Jasher), meaning book of the “UPRIGHT”, we read much about Hanok’s walk with YHUH.
Both the books Josh (chapter 10 verse 13) and 2Samuel (chapter 1 verses 17-18) make mention of the book of Yashar.
Yashar 3:2
And the being of Hanok was bound up in the INSTRUCTION of YHUH, in KNOWLEDGE and in UNDERSTANDING, and he WISELY retired from the sons of men, and hid himself from them for many days.
In Yashar 3 verse 3, we read that a Messenger of YHUH appeared to Hanok with an instruction – appear to the sons of men, in order that you may TEACH them the WAY in which they should go and the work which they must accomplish to ENTER in the WAYS of ELohim. In verse 5 we read that Hanok made KNOWN to men the INSTRUCTION of YHUH. In verse 7 we read that Hanok RULED over the sons of men according to the Word of ELohim. In verse 8 we read that The Ruach (Spirit) of ELohim was UPON Hanok, and he taught all his men the WISDOM of ELohim and His WAYS. In verse 10 we read that Hanok was made SOVEREIGN over 130 sovereigns and princes to TEACH them the ways of YHUH. In verse 11 we read that PEACE was UPON the EARTH during the life of Hanok. In verse 17 we read that Hanok SEPARATED himself from the sons of man to SERVE YHUH. In verse 20 we read that all the sons of men were greatly afraid of Hanok because of the REVERENT AWE that remained on his appearance, therefore no man could look at him. In verse 23 we read that a Messenger of YHUH called Hanok to bring him up to the shamayim (heaven) to make him REIGN over the SONS of ELohim. In verses 24-25 we read that Hanok then ASSEMBLED ALL the INHABITANTS of the EARTH, and he TAUGHT them WISDOM and KNOWLEDGE, and GAVE them RIGHTEOUS INSTRUCTION before He left them to go up to the shamayim (heaven). In verse 26 we read that Hanok even REPROVED the inhabitants of the earth, and he placed before them LAWS and RIGHT-RULINGS to do on earth.
See an extract from the book of Yobelim (Jubilees), which teaches us something important about Hanok’s righteousness.
Yobelim 10:17
And in his (Noah) life on earth he excelled the children of men except Hanok because of the righteousness, wherein he was perfect. For Hanok's office was ordained for a testimony to the generations of the world, so that he should recount all the deeds of generation unto generation, till the Day of Judgment.
After reading all the above that Hanok was a MIGHTY man of YHUH, who was CHOSEN and SET-APART to teach the inhabitants of the earth to follow in the ways of ELohim. He was a RIGHTEOUS man who walked UPRIGHTLY before YHUH (as already mentioned in the books of Gen and Heb). He is the man that YHUH chose to TEACH us His Calendar, yet most learned ones in Torah overlook His RIGHTEOUS TEACHINGS and INSTRUCTION.
We should not have to rely on any “man, church or religion”, contradicting opinions, varying interpretations and our flesh (sight) to correctly understand and follow our Creator’s Calendar – yet this is what believers have relied on for thousands of years.
Wouldn’t it make perfect sense that our Creator’s Calendar is and has always been operating on fixed [UN]changeable cycles?
Scripture is clear – our Creator’s Word DOESN’T CHANGE – His Word remains the same yesterday, today and tomorrow (Ps 119:89,160; Isa 40:8; 1Pe 1:23,25; Heb 13:8).
Our Hebrew Mashiach (Messiah), Who is the living Word, also remains the same.
If our Creator and His Word haven’t changed, would His Calendar have changed over the years? – is a question worth asking, researching and studying.
If a daily cycle of 24 hours and a weekly cycle of seven (7) days never changed since Creation (as the majority believe who observe the weekly Sabbath – on the same day each week), and if the four (4) season’s remain the same year-in-and-out, wouldn’t it make perfect sense that the monthly and yearly cycle’s also remained fixed since Creation? This is what this study is all about – testing the Scriptural Calendar against Scripture, and Scripture ALONE!
One important thing that we also NEED to take in consideration in observing our Creator’s Calendar is that the Yisraelite’s very often made them guilty of following the [pagan] traditions of the gentile nations around them by worshipping the creation, RATHER than the Creator.
ELohim (The Almighty) gave us a WARNING in Deut 4, because He knew humanity’s STRONG tendencies would be to want to worship what they could see, whether it was a likeness of the true EL, or of any creature.
Deut 4:19
and lest you lift up your eyes to the heavens, and shall see the sun, and the moon, and the stars – all the host of the heavens – and you be drawn away into bowing down to them and serving them, which יהוה (YHUH) your Elohim has allotted to all the peoples under all the heavens.
Acts 7:41-42
“And they made a calf in those days, and brought an offering to the idol, and were rejoicing in the works of their own hands. “So Elohim turned and gave them up to worship the host of the heaven, as it has been written in the book of the Prophets, ‘Did you bring slaughtered beasts and offerings unto Me during forty years in the wilderness, O house of Yisra’ĕl?
Understanding the evening/morning account of the six days of Creation
INTRODUCTION
What prompted this intensive study?
For years I struggled to understand the evening/morning account of the six-days of creation, firstly because evening is not the same as night, and morning is not the same as day (as we will clearly see when studying the Hebrew words in Gen 1:3-5), and secondly because I read many Scriptures that teach a morning start to a new [Scriptural] day.
I started doing much research and deep study from Scripture, performing many word searches and cross-references of Scripture, only to discover what I believe to be another one of man’s misrepresentation and belief.
Much has been taught about this sensitive matter. What does Scripture truly teach pertaining to the evening/morning account of the six days of creation? What do the rest of Scriptures teach? Does a day start in the evening or morning?
Man has many different interpretations of what Scriptures teach on this matter. How do we minimize or nullify man’s many diverse interpretations? Simply by STUDYING Scripture and researching Hebrew root words to guide us to a clear understanding of the meaning(s) of any word(s) in Scripture. The majority who believe in an evening start to a new Scriptural day, base their belief on mainly three portions of Scripture.
1) Two (2) of the Appointed Times of Almighty Yahuah (YHUH) are observed between the evenings (Lev 23:5,32). What was very strange to me is WHY Yahuah only commanded two (2) out of eight (8) appointed times (including the weekly Sabbath) to be observed between the evenings – WHY NOT ALL of them?
Lev 11 teaches that believers are UNCLEAN till evening (I believe I have a very valid explanation of why they were declared unclean till evening, and not morning).
Neh 13:19 teaches that the gates of Yerushalayim had to be shut BEFORE the Sabbath (again, I believe I have a very simple explanation of the meaning of this verse of Scripture that is realistic and even logic).
I kindly and lovingly suggest that everyone WILLING to put in the time to do this study to read this study more than once, as I did not grasp, nor understand it even after many attempts.
Please note that what I share in this study is based on sound Scriptural evidence. If you disagree with what Scriptures [clearly] teach on this matter, I choose to still love and respect you, and trust that you will do the same. Thank you and bless you.
This study endures to shed light on the days of creation, to determine what Scriptures teach on how the first day of creation began, and to establish whether the following days of creation confirm the same pattern.

The LIGHT created in Bereshith (Gen) 1:3
Hebrew Strong’s H216
or: a light
Original Word: א ר
Phonetic Spelling: (ore)
Short Definition: light
NAS Concordance: Dawn, daylight, early morning, light, lights, sun, sunlight, sunshine.
Strong’s Concordance: bright, clear, day, lightning, morning, sun
From 'owr; illumination -- bright, clear, + day, light (-ning), morning, sun.
Both the NAS and STRONG’s agree that the LIGHT created in Gen 1:3 was daylight, morning, sun (or sunlight).
The very FIRST thing that ELohim created was LIGHT. Just as Scripture does NOT teach that ELohim “was created” (but that He “was”), it also teaches that darkness “was”. Darkness was NOT created or spoke forth by a “command of ELohim”. All six days of creation was created through a command (by the mouth) of ELohim. Darkness on the other hand, WASN’T commanded, or created – it simply was.
The first day (of creation) STARTED with EARLY MORNING (dawn), hence LIGHT.
This light created in Gen 1:3 (called day in Gen 1:5) is NOT dependant on the sun to reflect its light (as the sun was only created on day four). The light is visible early in the morning, even BEFORE the sun rises. This light still reflects its light even if it is heavily overcast, and when it rains, when no rays of the SUN are visible at all.
Let’s continue to study ALL six days of creation to establish whether they CONFIRM the same pattern of Gen 1:3, or not.
Gen 1:5 And ELohim called the light ‘day (H3117)’ and the darkness He called ‘night (H3915).’ And there came to be evening (H6153) and there came to be morning (H1242), the first day.
Before we continue, let’s first determine the MEANING of the words “day”; “night”; “evening”; and “morning” from the ABOVE Scripture.
H3117
yom: day
Original Word: י ם
Phonetic Spelling: (yome)
From an unused root meaning to be hot; a day (as the warm hours) . . .
See also Yoh 11:9-10, when Messiah taught that there are 12 hours in the “day (G2250)”, which is the Greek word hémera, DEFINING the period from sunrise to sunset.

From arab; dusk -- + day, even(-ing, tide), night.
H6150
arab: to become evening, grow dark
Original Word: ר

BOTH H6153 and H6150 agree that evening is [dusk], or when [it grows dark]
H1242
boqer: morn-ing
Original Word: ר
Phonetic Spelling: (bo'-ker)
day, early, morning, morrow
From baqar; properly, dawn (as the break of day); generally, morning -- (+) day, early, morning, morrow.
H1242 agree that morning is [dawn], or [as the break of day], or [early (when the first light becomes visible)]
Look at the explanations from The Online Dictionary to confirm the terms [dusk] and [dawn] in more detail:
Dusk or [evening]
noun
the darker stage of twilight.
synonyms: twilight, nightfall, sunset, sundown, evening, close of day; More
literary: semi-darkness (not completely dark yet as with [night]).
Dawn
noun
the first appearance of light in the sky [before sunrise].
We can thus conclude that we have 4 periods of a “Scriptural day (24 hours)” according to Gen 1:5 . . .
Day (Yom) – sunrise to sunset (12 hours)
Evening (Ereb) – dusk, or when it grows dark, or semi-darkness (NOT night yet)
Night (Layil/Lel/Layelah) – it is the period after evening (dusk) and before dawn
Morning (Boqer) – dawn, or at the break of the day, at the first appearance of light in the sky before the sun rises
What is VERY IMPORTANT to acknowledge and understand from the six days of creation is that there is a SPECIFIC ORDER (pattern) during each of the six days of creation.
We see the SAME ORDER (pattern) in each of the days of creation.
The DAY STARTS at DAWN (break of day).
ELohim creates or forms during the DAY (yom) light hours [it can be compared to us going to work during DAY-Light hours].
ELohim COMPLETES His creation for each respective day [much like us who complete our work for the day and return home to rest during the NIGHT-hours].
Scripture teaches that evening comes (dusk/when it starts to grow dark), which then turns to night.
Below you will find a 5-part video series for detailed information confirming all that I have shared in my personal Scripture study.
Please NOTE That I am NOT affiliated to this ministry, not have I met them or know them. I merely came across their videos after completing my own study from Scripture.
Please remember that I only use the true Names of Father YAHUHA and Mashiach YAHUSHA as taught and confirmed by Scripture. I distance myself from any substitution names and titles.
The Appointed Times (Moadim) of YHUH is:
His Command to all {who serve Him by guarding His Teachings; Instructions; Commands; Laws (Torah) and are in covenant with Him}. He commands us to observe His Appointed Times - NOT that of a church, taught by man through religion and pagan traditions!
This is YHUH’s [Prophetic Time Plan], which was changed by satan through man (refer to Dan 7:25), replacing His commanded appointed times with [pagan] festivals like New Years, Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Valentines, Thanksgiving and others!
There is NO Scriptural evidence or command to observe these pagan festivals, yet we see CLEAR and PRECISE commands from Almighty Yahuah [YHUH] regarding the observance of His Appointed Times, taught in 18 Books of Scripture!
Let it CLEARLY be NOTED that all the Messengers, Prophets and Priests of Yahuah observed His Appointed Times in the First Covenant (Old Testament) – so too did Messiah, His Taught Ones (Disciples) and the Emissaries (Apostles) in the Renewed Covenant (New Testament)!
Thus, the appointed Times of Yahuah did NOT fall away as many falsely teach and preach, as it was OBSERVED in the Renewed Covenant (New Testament) AS WELL!
It was NOT nailed to a “cross”. What was nailed to the tree was the certificate of debt against us (Col 2:14), NOT the Appointed Times or the Instructions/Commands/Laws (Torah) of Yahuah!
Four (4) times in Lev, chapter 23, we are reminded that these laws pertaining to the Appointed Times are FOREVER UNTO ALL GENERATIONS (including ours) – see verses 14, 21, 31 and 41.
Let me also REMIND all reading this that the observance of Yahuah’s Sabbaths is a SIGN of His ETERNAL COVENANT with us!
Exo 31:13
“And you, speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl (includes Jew and Gentile), saying, ‘My Sabbaths you are to guard, by all means, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, to know that I, YHUH am setting you apart.
Let’s begin with the observance of the 1st Appointed Time of Almighty Yahuah.
It is His 7th-day weekly Sabbath! (Sat-day, i.e. 7th day of the week).
It is a Day of Rest and fellowship, signifying eternal rest with the Father.
(Exo 20:8-11; Deu 5:12-15; Mat 12:8; Act 18:4; Heb 4:9).
The Seven (7) other [Eternal] Appointed Times of Almighty Yahuah . . .
(Let me remind you that the number 7 resembles spiritual perfection, thus signifying that all those who observe the Appointed Times of Yahuah will worship Him in Spirit and Truth (Yohn 4:23), pursuing spiritual perfection!)
SPRING APPOINTED TIMES (4 – they are all [Fulfilled] by Messiah Yahusha)
(Please note that I will give only one or two Scriptural references pertaining to each Appointed Time, even though there are many more).
Pesach “Passover” -- First of the Spring Festivals (Lev 23:4-5; Num 9:2-5; Mat 26:2)
Pictures the death of the sacrificial [perfect] Lamb, Yahusha.
Festival of Matzvah “Unleavened Bread” (Lev 23:6-8; Mar 14:12; 1Cor 5:8)
No leaven is eaten for 1 week. It commemorates the deliverance of the Yisraelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. It also represents the burial of our spotless, sin free Messiah. Bikkurim “First Fruits” (Lev 23:9-14; 1Cor 15:23; Col 1:18)
Giving the first portion of your harvest or “gain” dedicated to Father Yahuah. Pictures the resurrection of Mashiach (Messiah) Yahusha and being dedicated or given to Yahuah as the first in resurrection of the dead.
Shavuot (Festival of Weeks) “Pentecost” (Lev 23:15-22; Act 2:1; 1Cor 16:8)
Counting of days till the next harvest. Remembering those in need. Marked as a marriage between Yahuah and the Hebrew people with the giving of the Torah (marriage vows) on Mount Sinai. Represented by Father Yahuah remembering the needs of man and giving His Qodesh Ruach (Set-Apart Spirit) as a gift to help and guide His people.
FALL FESTIVALS (3 - they are [Waiting] to be Fulfilled)
Yom Teruah “Feast of Trumpets” (Lev 23:23-25; Mar 13:32-33)
Blowing of the shofar to make a loud noise from the people. A day of shouting and rejoicing. Yom Teruah begins a ten-day period leading up to the most set apart day of YHUH'S calendar, Yom Kippur -- the "Day Of Atonement." The sounding of the shofar on Yom Teruah is a wake-up blast -- a reminder that the time is near for the Day of Atonement. It is time to teshuvah (repent, turn back to YHUH). Traditionally, these ten days are ones of heart searching and self-examination. It also symbolizes The Messiah coming to collect His Bride after the 7th trumpet is sounded in the Book of Revelation! {Waiting to be fulfilled}.
Yom Kippur “Day of Atonement” (Lev 23:26-32; Rom 3:23-25)
A day of reflection and repentance. A complete fast. As repentance is the theme of the day, Yom Kippur is a day of "self-denial" with the goal of cleansing ourselves of sins. A time to remember the covering of the sins of man. Also symbolizing the Second Coming of Yahusha Mashiach (Messiah), Forgiving and Restoring His chosen, the people of Yisra’el (Jew and Gentile)
{Waiting to be fulfilled}.
Sukkot “Feast of Tabernacles” (Lev 23:33-43; Yoh 1:14 and 7:2)
A time to dwell with the Father. A time of Rejoicing! A time to Feast! A reminder of being brought out of bondage. It also represents the “Millennial Reign” or thousand years with Messiah Yahusha without the interference or influence of satan.
{Waiting to be fulfilled}.
What did Almighty YAHUAH Command in the 1st Covenant (Old Testament)?
Lev 18:4
Do My right-rulings and guard My laws, to walk in them. I am YHUH your Elohim.
Deu 5:32
And you shall guard to do as YHUH your Elohim has commanded you – do not turn aside, to the right or to the left.
Deu 32:46
he said to them, “Set your heart on all the words with which I warn you today, so that you command your children to guard to do all the Words of this Torah”.
What did Messiah teach in the Renewed Covenant (New Testament)?
The same as His Father in the 1st Covenant!
Mat 5:17-18
“Do NOT think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did NOT come to DESTROY but to complete. For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall by NO MEANS pass from the Torah till all be done” (CLEARLY ALL IS NOT DONE YET).
